📖 Read-Able

One word at a time — read at your own pace

What is Read-Able?

Read-Able is a supplementary reading tool to improve word recognition and reduce visual clutter. It is not a replacement for reading from books and should be used alongside them.

Read-Able shows text one word at a time in a fixed spot on the screen, so your eyes never have to move. This can make reading easier for children who struggle with tracking, dyslexia, or visual stress.

How to use it: Paste any text into the box below — a story, a school book passage, anything you like. Adjust the speed and font size to suit your child, then press Start Reading. Use the arrow keys to go back if a word needs a second look.

📝 Your Text

⬅ ➡ Use the arrow keys to move through words at your own pace. Your reading speed will be calculated at the end.

Highlight middle letter iTurns the middle letter of each word red. This gives the eye a fixed point to focus on, which can help reduce jumping and improve reading speed.
Pause at punctuation iTakes a natural extra pause after full stops, commas and other punctuation — just like reading aloud. Helps with understanding.
Colour-code morphemes iHighlights word parts in colour: green = prefix (e.g. un-), yellow = root (the main word), blue = suffix (e.g. -ing). Great for children learning morphology.
Manual mode (arrow keys) iTurns off auto-scrolling. The child moves through words themselves using the ← → arrow keys. At the end, their reading speed in words per minute is shown automatically.

🎨 Reading Colours

Choose colours that feel comfortable. Cream or pastel backgrounds often help with visual stress.
